Dr. Lawson's research has centered on neurodevelopmental aspects of controlling breathing. Lately, Dr. Lawson's laboratory has been investigating protracted effects of hypoxia on neurotransmitter and receptor gene expression in the respiratory control centers of the brainstem. Other interests have included fluid flux across the respiratory epithelium in newborns and various clinical projects.

Dr. Lehmann's research interest focus on Medical Informatics, especially on the use of computers in the prevention of medical errors and in computer assisted learning. Dr. Lehmann has designed multiple clinical computing application and evaluated their impact on patient safety and staff satisfaction. He developed popular medical educational web sites such as Dermatlas and Harriet Lane Links.

Lawrence M. Nogee, MD

Dr. Nogee is involved in research concerning genetic mechanisms that cause or contribute to the development of lung disease in newborns, children and adults, with a particular focus on the epidemiology, molecular genetics, and pathophysiology of inborn errors of surfactant metabolism.

As the Director of Respiratory Care Services, Anthony Bilenki is responsible for all the administrative and operational activities related to respiratory care services which include all the critical care and inpatient areas of the hospital. He also places a key role in maintaining and assuring operation of hospital’s Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) service and the blood gas laboratories in Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
